The lokta paper, commonly known as rice paper, is made of Daphne Papyracea shrubs which is grown above 8000ft altitude. It is made by hand, free of any machines or equipment. The shrubs are cultivated from the managed forests, thus protecting and respecting ecological balances. These shrubs have amazing regenerative characteristics and quickly regrow after being cut. The bark or the lokta is cleaned and dried, then chipped into small pieces. The small pieces are soaked in hot water and then hammered into a pulp. The result is a beautiful, earthy paper. "
